Homemade sheild and sword

Sometimes as a parent you get 'one of those letters' come home from school requesting your child comes in 'fancy dress', you know the ones, the ones where you sit there and think 'Oh no, not again'!! Well, we had an outfit for this 'event' but we didn't have the 'added props' to go with it. SO, creative mind kicks into gear, need to find a cost effective way of making a sword and shield. Blue Peter eat your heart out, and thanks for helping me through my childhood.

So, some packing strips we got with a recent purchase for a tallboy, for our bathroom refit, was turned into the sword, and rather a lot of duct tape, 'Yay, duct tape'!! And two pieces of cardboard stuck together, for extra strength, became a shield, and an 'arm loop' at the back, and yet more duct tape!! My huband took pity on me and decided to do the ornate cross for the front. So, 'Yay us' and 'Yay duct tape'.
